It is recommended that you wait at least 3 months (or even 7 months) after a vasectomy procedure before you submit a post vasectomy seminal fluid specimen.
The ideal result is seminal fluid with no sperms (specimen must be read within 2 hours after ejaculation).
For some patients, it may take a few months to clear the tubes and you may have dead sperms for a few months. In that case, you will be required to repeat until no sperms, OR, if you wait after 7 months, having 2 specimens with occassional dead sperms may qualify for special clearance.

It is extremely important that your specimen and pathology request form reach one of these collection centres as soon as possible (no longer than 2 hours).
